While phenoxyethanol is a nature-identical compound found in plants like green tea leaves and is shown to be completely safe to use at 1% in organic body products (we use it at 1% for water-based products to prevent the growth of harmful mold and bacteria), this substance must be used with caution around nursing infants. Many of our water-based body products contain phenoxyethanol as an effective and safe preservative with little to no side effects when used in the proper amounts. For these areas we highly recommend our emu & lanolin whipped tallow !
